Shabstec was formed in 2015 to specifically address the lack of innovation and progress within the aviation sector relating to baggage handling logistics and associated IT solution capability. Shabstec’s focus is on specific objectives to help our customers towards the drive to net zero emissions, to focus on delivery of luggage to their passengers on time, all the time, safely and securely. Shabstec want to transform the utilised Information Technology (IT) to digitise the work place and make efficient use of both human and machine resources. Members of the Shabstec team have been steeped in Baggage IT solutions at some of the world’s busiest airports. Our pedigree and heritage have allowed us to use our intimate Baggage Handling System (BHS) knowledge and experience and to drive a strategy and vision to introduce better market place capabilities. At the heart of this strategy, Shabstec wants to become a major disruptor in its innovative offerings. Ultimately, Shabstec wants to introduce Baggage Logistics and associated IT related functions as commodity items.
We believe that the time is now right to begin offering this type of capability on a Software as a service (SAAS) basis. For too long, airports have relied on bespoke logistics (SAC, BRS, Bag Re-flight) services to deliver their complex baggage IT needs. Shabstec’s wealth of knowledge and experience at some of the world’s busiest airports has led it to develop a road map that will deliver a simplified business/technology model. To appeal to the widest customer base, Shabstec intends to offer its services in a non-premises and cloud offering basis. We will work with our Technology partners (Microsoft, Zebra, ProGlove) to ensure that the highest levels of security and reliability are delivered.
In the medium term, we believe that the recovery from the pandemic provides great opportunity to introduce change at both the operational and service levels. We believe that current technology has the capability to reduce the airport/airline carbon footprint. For example, Shabstec are already working on solutions to reduce the need for airlines to print bag tags for every bag that is checked in. We believe that new data standards coupled with passengers/airlines acceptance to change behaviour (resulting from the pandemic) means that we have the ideal ingredients to exploit a new people/process and technology possibility.
Our Autonomous all electric Rover will transport the physical baggage system domain by offering a simplified passenger experience, improved airport space utilisation, competitive CAPEX and OPEX costs whilst allowing a quicker deployment of airport facilities. Our TagForLife concept works in conjunction with the Rover to address the bag identity problem and ensure every bag is delivered to all passengers so that they can enjoy stress free travel. The IT related products/services will essentially cover the implementation of systems and solutions that receive information for and provide real-time decision and planning capability for Flight, Passenger, Equipment and Bag related subject areas.
Shabstec is a formally audited company and has attained both the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO27001:2013 (Information Management System (IMS) quality certification marks. Shabstec are committed to providing the highest levels of quality and security in delivering all our business capabilities.
